Yes I Can For Kids

About This Program

This program is the culmination of 30 years experience in public speaking, mostly to grade school children ages 8 through 17. Although there is no single approach to dealing with all children, Ray has put together a program that highlights his most successful methods and techniques -tempered with the problems that threaten our youth today. It is indeed a reflection of Ray’s passion for the health and wellbeing of these next generations. Far too often our children are like lambs without a shepherd. In many cases some of our children have been left to wander without guidance or supervision. As with the wandering and scattered lamb wolf are waiting. If they manage to escape at all, they are likely to be maimed, wounded, or scarred for life.

At “Yes I Can” our goal is to find those children before it’s too late. Where ever they may be- on the street corner- in the school yard- near the church house or the crack house. There is no place that the Y.I.C. team will not venture to reach a young person at risk. Moreover, let us not overlook those young people who are trying hard to resist the evils of today. Some of whom are trying desperately to function in a dysfunctional environment.

These young people should be applauded for their diligence. They too need guidance and encouragement.

The seasoned professionals at YIC work tirelessly in our common vigilance to be a force for positive change in an ever volatile climate of moral deficiency. Our tested methods are proven to have long term influence on even the most troubled youth.

At “Yes I Can” we are convinced that no child is beyond reach. We welcome the opportunity to prove it.

Motivating, Educating, Empowering the leaders of tomorrow. This is our cause- this is our mission

Picture Yourself

Can you picture yourself with these people?

  • Reach your goals
  • Develop a positive attitude
  • Build your self-esteem
  • Succeed even when all the odds are against you

Mr. Ray Simmons learned how, and looked how, and look what it has led to! He has matched wits with Ted Koppel, he has rubbed shoulders with the “King of the LoudMouths,” Morton Downey, Jr.

In addition to what Ray Simmons has learned and teaches, your personal dreams can come true.

Why would people like Bill Boggs (with, Ch. 5, N.Y.) and others mentioned spend time with Ray Simmons? Because he has learned the secrets of ACHIEVING. Achieve any goal, how to create ones own destiny, how to live above day-to-day circumstances, and how to be highly motivated, positive, effective achievers.

YES YOU CAN! You can have what you “say”, the world can and know the lessons. Ray Simmons learned the hard way! With the secrets so few are willing to share Ray transformed himself from “I wonder if I can…” to YES I CAN! His goal now is to help others become YES I CAN! Achievers.

You can achieve your Dreams…
if you know the secrets, all truly great achievers learned the hard way.

Negative Attitudes VS. Positive Attitudes

The first and second topics are Negative Attitude vs. Positive Attitudes. This subject is designed to identify the importance of recognizing the detriments of negativity, versus the residual attributes of positive thoughts and attitudes.

We show how negativity can be habit forming; much like drugs, alcohol and food. We also show how negativity can affect ones health and even shorten our lives. We point out how negativity can start as early as the womb. Our team addresses this and several other integral areas of Negativity.

On the other hand having a positive attitude takes cognitive effort. Especially if you are accustomed to being surrounded by negative people who may not recognize their own destructive natures.

Successful, caring, and compassionate people rarely get that why over night; most had to work at it. The good news is that the more one focuses on and practice being positive, the more natural it becomes.

Bullying & Self-Esteem

The third and forth topics of the “Yes I Can” character enrichment program address the issues of “Bullying and Self Esteem”.

We feel it is important to run these two topics together. Bullies come in all sizes. They feed on the fears and low self-esteem of their victims. It is a form of terrorism where size doesn’t matter. The bully can be the smallest person in the school while his or her victims can be the biggest. Typically the bully at some point has learned the power of manipulation. He or she has discovered that they can manipulate their peer by intimidation. In extreme cases they may even be more capable of maintaining classroom order then the teacher in charge.

Y I C speaks to both the bully and the bullied; the predator and the prey; forcing each to examine their roles as perpetrator and victim. Recognizing that each suffer from low self-esteem.

Motivation

The fifth topic is Motivation. This subject helps to indentify what motivates each individual. This is one of the most productive steps in the program. It is a highly interactive session where students are encouraged to share their dreams with one another. It has been carefully placed in the fifth position of this program. It is at this crucial point in the course that our participants are looking for an avenue to channel their new found vigor and confidence. What better place to direct their energy then those positive interests that already motivate them. Each of them has a talent, an interest, an aspiration. We encourage students to take ownership of, and act on whatever it is that motivates them. This may very well be the first and best step toward realizing their dreams.

Goals

The seventh topic is the one that over the years has paid the most dividends for our students. From an instructional stand point it is the most rewarding part of our program. This is the point where students, many for the first time, come face to face with road maps to their goals. In these sessions they do more than simply state what it is they want to do in life. With the guidance of our diverse Y.I.C. team we actually lay out a course of action that better prepares them for, acquaints them with, and otherwise brings students closer to their ambitions. Whenever possible- students are exposed to professionals in their areas of interest. This experience is meant to make their chosen professions that much more tangible. The end result is that our graduates leave feeling much closer to their dreams

Procrastination

The eighth topic is procrastination. This session emphasizes getting it done! We point out the pitfalls of postponing, delaying, or putting off doing what needs to be done. Every minute, hour, or day we avoid doing that which needs to be done is a missed opportunity. It is aimed at giving 0ur young people a greater appreciation of time and how valuable it is. We teach you how to make time your friend not your enemy!

Communication & Listening

The ninth and tenth topic in our program focuses on communication and listening. This may be a case of beginning at the end. One might argue that the art of communicating and listening should have been the first topics examined. After all, even the best of advice is useless if it falls on deaf ears.

The argument, although not totally without merit, suggest that the art of communicating can be taught. This is not entirely true. Communication is more than the projection or reception of the written or spoken word. It also gestures, body language, eye contact and levels of enthusiasm or energy. It is the subtleties of a fine and effective orator or the posture and humility of an accomplished student while divulging every morsel of a difficult lecture.

It is the lethal sharp pen of a talented writer as he carves out a message with the precise accuracy of a master jeweler cutting a precious gem. Communication is that arbitrary balance between sharing a thought or remaining silent; recognizing that you have more to gain by listening than by speaking.

This is indeed the most beneficial form of communication, “listening”. A person will always learn more by listening than by talking. Anything “you” have to say, you already know.

This is indeed the most beneficial form of communication, “listening”. A person will always learn more by listening than by talking. After all-anything “you” have to say, you already know.

Truly great communicators are born not cultivated. That is “great” in the most extreme sense of the word. Good communicators can be inspired; the bottom line is however, one must practice every aspect of communication in order to be a good and effective communicator.

Patience

The Eleventh topic is Patience. you will start to realize that anything worth having is worth waiting for You will become wise enough to know that there is a time for everything Patience means to calmly tolerate delay a patient person knows that good things come to those who wait anything worth having is worth waiting for this topic is short and to the point our next topic is procrastination it is the mother of failure.
